Summer self-care starts with you Summer often brings holidays, family gatherings, gardening, walking, and adventures—but it can also leave our bodies and feet feeling more tired than we realise. This season is a wonderful reminder to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and make self-care part of your routine. Our feet work incredibly hard every day, yet they're often the most neglected part of our body. Whether you've been exploring on holiday, enjoying long walks, or simply spending more time on your feet, a little care can make a big difference. Here are a few simple ways to keep your feet feeling happy this summer: • Soak your feet in cool, refreshing water with Epsom salts after a busy day (Diabetics should be cautious and check if suitable first)
• Moisturise daily to help prevent dry, cracked skin
• Wear supportive footwear whenever possible
• Stay hydrated, especially during warmer weather
• Give yourself a gentle foot massage before bed to ease tired muscles
Go barefoot to connect with the earth and ground yourself Self-care doesn't have to be complicated. Even ten minutes each day can help restore both body and mind. Why not try:
Try to keep a regular bedtime where possible to help your body recharge • Taking a mindful walk in nature
• Sitting quietly with a cup of tea and no distractions
• Stretching your legs and feet after a busy day
• Spending time in the sunshine wearing a hat and SPf
• Reading a book or listening to calming music
• Taking a few slow, deep breaths whenever life feels busy
Remember, looking after yourself isn't a luxury—it's an investment in your wellbeing.
"Self-care is giving the world the best of you, instead of what's left of you."
Summer recipe Summer Recipe: Watermelon, Feta & Mint Salad Light, refreshing, and packed with flavour, this salad is perfect for warm summer days. Ingredients • ½ watermelon, cut into bite-sized cubes • 150g feta cheese, crumbled • A handful of fresh mint leaves, roughly torn • ½ cucumber, sliced • Juice of 1 lime • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil • Freshly ground black pepper • Optional: a handful of toasted pumpkin seeds or chopped walnuts for added crunch Method 1. Place the watermelon, cucumber, feta, and mint into a large serving bowl. 2. Drizzle with the lime juice and olive oil. 3. Season with a little black pepper. 4. Gently toss together and serve chilled. This colourful salad is naturally hydrating thanks to the watermelon, while the cucumber adds freshness and the feta provides a source of protein and calcium. It's the perfect accompaniment to a summer lunch, barbecue, or picnic. Wellness Tip: Staying hydrated during warmer weather is one of the simplest ways to support your overall wellbeing. Keep a reusable water bottle nearby and add slices of lemon, cucumber, or fresh mint for a naturally refreshing twist.
